Please review Safe2Drive’s course policies carefully before registering. All wording below is official and applies to all students.

BDE MTO-Approved Courses

Must complete the BDE course within one year, including:
- 20 hours of online or classroom modules
- 10 hours of in-car instruction
- 10 hours of "HomeLinks"
Course will not be valid after 1 year from the registration date.
It may take 24–48 hours after registration to process your information and provide e-learning access.
Maximum of 2 hours of in-car instruction per day.
Certification occurs within 10 days of completing both online and in-car lessons (Driving schools are no longer eligible to issue paper certificates since 2008. We certify you electronically to MTO; to receive your actual certificate, you must apply directly to Service Ontario.)
Road test booking requires MTO certification unless student has held G1 license for over a year.
Students can check their certification status on our website (safe2driveontario.ca/certification) 10 days after completing their course.
Once certification has been processed, students requiring proof for insurance must apply for a Driver’s License History (DLH) through Service Ontario. DLH is not required for the road test. Apply here: Click to Apply for DLH

In-car sessions begin only after completing the e-learning platform.
$30/hour fee applies for missed in-car lessons without 24-hour cancellation notice.
Weather-related cancellations are allowed at the instructor's discretion without penalty.
Any dissatisfaction with the assigned in-car instructor must be reported to management within the first 3 hours of in-car training to allow timely reassignment. Concerns raised after completing all sessions will not be actionable

Must be the same location for both.
In restricted zones (due to city regulations), students must meet the instructor at a nearby eligible location.

Safe2Drive does not control traffic or DriveTest scheduling delays.
Packages 2 & 3 include local road tests within 20km of the student’s pickup address; additional fees apply beyond 20km.
If a student arrives at a test center and the road test is cancelled by DriveTest, full charges apply.
If cancelled before pickup, no charges apply.
If a road test gets delayed by more than 20 minutes than the scheduled test time, a $30 fee applies.

BDE course (all 10 in-car hours) must be completed within 1 year of original start date.
Package 2 and 3 services expire after 15 months from start date.

$30/hour fee applies for no-shows or less than 24-hour notice.
Weather-related cancellations are instructor's decision without penalty.
Any dissatisfaction with the assigned in-car instructor must be reported to management within the first 3 hours of in-car training to allow timely reassignment. Concerns raised after completing all sessions will not be actionable

Same location for pickup and drop-off.
If student lives in a restricted zone, alternate pickup location must be arranged with instructor.

Safe2Drive cannot control DriveTest or traffic delays.
Local road test within 20km from pickup address. Over 20km distance will be an additional charge.
If DriveTest cancels after arrival at test center, full charges apply.
If cancelled before pickup, no charge applies.
If the road test gets delayed by more than 20 minutes than the assigned time, a $30 fee will apply.
